Who is this Art Director of a Thousand Faces?
Once upon a time there were drawing boards, magic markers, rubber cement paste pots and quick sketch layout artists doing their magic--and sometimes while clients watched. I was putting on a show that helped to sell the concept. That once upon a time was not even twenty years ago.
I had two offices. One with a drawing board for concepts and comprehensive layouts. In the other office I had a Mac for writing copy. Soon I was setting type and importing photos. Ultimately I was doing every aspect of the ad except printing it. When we had the Gallo Wines account I discovered I was writing lyrics, or maybe jingles. I heard tunes while writing and in client meetings I sang the jingles. We were lucky to get the jingles on the radio. With my voice we could have lost the account. The internet appeared and quickly became a significant part of the ad budget. I designed and structured web sites that reflected the nature of the client's business and integrated the graphics of the ad campaign. |
